But no matter what the color of the coat may be, Persians are always sure to stand out because of their impressive appearance.

However, even if you don’t plan on entering your Persian cat into any competition, you should still know the proper ways of caring for your cat and keeping her looking good and being healthy at all times. As with all longhairs, grooming is very important for Persian cats. It is important that you brush your cat’s fur every single day with a metallic comb to prevent tangling and hairballs. Regular bathing is also necessary to keep the coat clean, soft, and healthy.

When it comes to personality, Persian cats are definitely one of the best breeds. They are extremely sweet and gentle but they also like to play a lot. They get along well with other pets and young children. They simply love it when you shower them with attention and affection but they are just as happy with only a cursory pat on the head if you are too busy. In fact, Persian cats are one of the least demanding breeds of cats. They are also one of the best-behaved; they don’t like scratching furniture or jumping up on curtains. Instead, they just like to lounge around and simply be adorable.

Most Persian cat owners keep their pets inside the house mainly because the fur is so difficult to clean once it gets dirty from dust, mud, and all the other stuff that can be found outdoors. Other reasons for keeping Persians indoors are to keep them safe from being run over by cars or being mauled by the neighbor’s dogs, and to prevent infestation of parasites.

But even if you keep your cat inside the house at all times, you still can’t keep her completely safe from all health-related dangers. The only way to ensure your furry companion will be healthy at all times is to take her to the veterinarian regularly. An annual visit should suffice unless she has a special condition that requires more frequent visits. The most common health problem encountered in Persian cats is eye irritation, but even this can be prevented with regular checkups at the vet.

Some amount of effort on your part is indeed necessary in order to keep a Persian cat beautiful, healthy, and happy, but all your effort is definitely worth it, especially for a pet that can be a wonderful companion to have for many years.
